Packaging / Design

This set comes together as a wonderful all-glossy-style digipack, complete with M-lock hubs to hold the discs. The slipcase is also glossy and the whole thing feels really nice and sturdy.

Disc contents / Extras

If one focuses on the first film, this set ranks as one of the better versions released, tying in with pretty much identical features compared to the R1 special edition.

There's a nice lineup of deleted footage and commentary tracks but even so, the special features are in fact pretty short and I definetly wouldn't rate this as THE ultimate release even though it's one of the best so far.

The second film comes with pretty avarage extras as well, featuring an audio commentary and deleted scenes as the main attractions.

The R1 special edition comes with one extra feature but it's marely a text based bonus and not really anaything to put it up over this one. All other editions released seem identical, not counting subtitle and audio variations.

All in all, an OK set but not as well packed as one would hope.

Sidenotes

Originally (on the initial pressing), this release came with a holographic 3D cover-piece that altered the artwork based on what angle you looked at it. I purchased my digipack of off DVDHeaven in 2007 when the set was temporarily re-stocked. However, there was no holographic cover for my set, and so I can only assume that this is some kind of re-issued version, even though everything else looks identical to the original release.

The barcode printed on the digipack is 8809038382957 but this has been covered up by a sticker showing an alternate barcode (809038388317). I'm not sure what the story is but it seems that this sticker was here from the start (on the first pressing version as well, that is, and not just the re-issued version).

Man that's a odd name you choose for yourself... looks rather asian when it's typed together like that. Took me a few seconds to figure out who the hell I was talking to.

Gr8 content and gr8 movies. Revisited Gremlins not to long ago. They still hold their ground in 2008 :)
