Packaging / Design

This set comes in a very stylish looking box but the quality it a little weak. I mean it's not an inferior box by any means but it's just simple cardboard and not very sturdy.

Plus, the inside is hardly filled at all. There's a whole bunch of pockets and cardboard pieces inside meant to keep everything in place but roughly 40% of the entire box is just empty. This may not be a big deal but it does make the set more easily damaged as there's not to much stuff inside to withstand the impact if you drop or something. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm a bit out of line here but to me, the whole waste of space attitude seems like a very typical case of bad planning.

As for the inside contents, the dvds are presented in a standard keepcase with matching artwork. The movie scrapbook is a quite a nice treat and looks surprisingly good despite being rather slim in size.

The poker dealer chip (which looks the same on either side by the way) is a kind of cute touch and it's really thick and made of hard plastic and all that (if anyone's interested).

However, the real surprise is the deck of cards which is actually custom designed for this particular box set, featuring some really cool images for the card figures (see photos).

Disc contents / Extras

Dispite this set having a major screw up on a lot of the discs that where sent out (see sidenotes below), the ORIGINAL line up (if you recieved the right disc that is) is rather good, even though it doesn't really present us with anything new.

There's a 24 min making of along with a commentary track and some other goodies. Pretty much all the standard stuff you'd want from a really good special edition.

The subtitles on both discs are sadly in YELLOW, which I find incredibly annoying (even though it does go along with the overall design of the set).

All in all a rather fine deluxe edition but all these features have allready appeared elsewhere and there's really nothing exclusive about discs.

EASTER EGGS

On disc 1: Enter the audio set-up section and highlight "Play Movie". Now press up twice to highlight a musical note. Press enter and you'll get instructions on how to replicate the cellphone ringtone used by the movie character Doug.

On disc 2: Highlight the right arrow on the main menu. Press up and then right to highlight another symbol. Push enter and you will get to a new section. After answering the question "Are you easily offended?" you'll get to see a 90-second collage featuring guns and swearing in either an uncensored version or a bleeped one.

On disc 2: Select the right arrow on the main menu. Press it to continue to page two of the main menu. Now press up and the left to highlight another symbol. Push enter and you'll get to see 70-second montage of some of classic quotes from the film.

On disc 2: Enter the filmographies section and then enter Guy Richie's filmography. Then press up and left to highlight another symbol. Press enter for an aditional interview with the director.

On disc 2: Enter the filmographies section and then enter Brad Pitt's filmography. Then press up and right to highlight another symbol. Press enter for an aditional interview with the director talking about actor Brad Pitt.

On disc 2: Enter the filmographies section and then enter Vinnie Jones' filmography. Then press up twice for an aditional interview with the director talking about actor Vinnie Jones.

Sidenotes

PUBLIC WARNING: Many (if not all) of the poker kit deluxe sets appear to be messed up! There's been several reports of the first disc being exactly the same as the old superbit edition - with NO commentary and no other extras - and yellow subtitles in Chinese, English, French, Korean, Pikey, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai. The incorrect disc (disc 1) is however picture labeled as the deluxe edition so the only way to tell is by actually putting it into your dvdplayer. If the main menu on disc 1 opens up with the superbit logo and there's are no special features of any kind you've obviously recieved the wrong disc.

If you contact Sony and send in the faulty disc, they WILL replace it, BUT, they're replacing it with THE OLD DISC FROM THE PREVIOUSLY RELEASED SPECIAL EDITION (!!!) (WHICH MEANS THAT IT'S NOT A CORRECTED DISC, BUT AND OLD DISC FEATURING THE CORRECT CONTENT, BUT WITH TOTALLY MISMATCHING ARTWORK).

This box set is no longer available and it's possible that it was actually recalled due to the issue mentioned above.
