Just another steelbook, with a nice clean look to it. It looks good but the Autobahn framing feels a bit odd... but I guess it's easy to get used to. I'm just glad it looks as nice as it does. Long live the steelbooks! (but hopefully at a cheaper price next time)
Even though we're just talking two discs here, I think they really did a great job with the extras. There's a number of lengthy features. Building Brick concist of a lot of on set photage (or rather on location as a lot of the movie takes place outside).
The Junkyard Score featurette is a nice little piece about the soundtrack of the film. It's basically a slideshow following various aspects of the film and the soundtrack. This featurette runs for a little over 11 min and features an audiotrack by composer Nathan Johnsson (yes, he is related to the director).
The Chickenscratch Storyboards is a very short featurette just showing director Rian Johnsons terrible storyboards (no, that's HIS opinion) as he talks about how much they suck. I rather like this featurette but I really wish it was longer so we could get to see more of these his doodlings... not because they're good storyboards, because they really aren't but it's just very interesting to see how much you can do even if you're not the artistic type.
Finally, I'd like to take a moment and mention the short Origami Master film towards the end of my list. Now, this is not you're classic final film-school project as one would expect, but rather a VERY early production that the director did in high school. Now I find this kind of amusing, I mean, it's all handheld cameras, ninja costumes and brightly coloured toy guns. I mean ok, it's not really related to Brick but it's just humoures to see a director with such a wonderful self-distance, who can just take these (presumably) embarassing memories (and storyboards alike) and show em off as a curiousity even when he doesn't have to.
One thing that really strikes me as visually interesting with this set is actually the subtitling. It's surprisingly smooth with a very fast fade-in/fade-out look to it. It's subtle but I really like it for some reason.
