This is by far the best packaging I've seen for this film so far. The cover is pretty much all chrome-like and very reflective. There's some white detailing for the eye which looks absolutely gorgeous in combination with the metallic style of the slipcase.
The digipack is also very well designed and there's some alternate artwork jammed into it as well, which feels really fresh. I know the original cover is fantastic but it's been used for pretty much every release so far so it's nice to see it done in a sort of alternate fashion on this one.
This release comes with 2 discs but is still pretty identical to every other special edition on the market but due to the inclusion of a german DTS track they totally miss out on the audio commentaries.
The menus are animated really nicely but they also make use of the german audio track for the film which is kind of a downer.
The cover states the aspect ratio as 1.77:1 but I think it's actually 1.78:1 and this is not the films original aspect ratio so a slight minus for this as well.
Disc 2 comes with german subtitles for all extras. These can't be turned off through the menus but seem to be optional if you use the subtitle-button on your remote.
All in all I'd say this release is mainly worth the purchase for the packaging and not so much for the discs. Don't get me wrong; it's still equal to most other editions in terms of extras in general (not counting the commentary) but it's not as good as I hoped and certainly not the best release out there.
On disc 2, highlight "Aufbau einer szene" and press left to highlight a red eye. Press enter for a deleted scene entitled Tappy Tibbons - Luke (02m 21s).
On disc 2, proceed to page 2 and highlight "Entstehung der Filmmusik". Press left to highlight a red eye. Press enter for a deleted scene entitled Tappy Tibbons - Lebensgeschichte (aka Tappy Tippon's Life Story) (05m 05s).
The barcode on my copy was printed on a sticker (as you see in the photos). I managed to remove this later on without damaging the case and beneath it was a barcode printed as part of the artwork, but this barcode was exactly the same as the one on the sticker.
